Announcing the new WLTC Radio Theatre Series, Winter/Spring
2012!
The Limelight Theatre Company is proud to announce an
expansion into a new venture: Radio Drama!
In an effort to build on the success of the annual It’s A Wonderful
Life: A Radio Play, and offer programming on a more consistent basis, Limelight
is creating an all new Radio Division that will present radio dramas based on
classic films, literature, and even some original works and adaptations.
These productions will work a little differently than
traditional programming, which requires auditions, registration, and a lengthy
rehearsal process. These shows will be
cast based on need, they will be considered volunteer hours and will not
require registration, and will be rehearsed and performed on the same day in a
one-night-only event at the Little White School, the home of It’s A Wonderful
Life.
Actors invited to perform in one of these radio dramas
will meet certain criteria, which are required in order to facilitate the quick
rehearsal process that this type of show needs.
Those criteria are:
- A demonstrated ability to take initiative and practice
lines/character work outside of the rehearsal process.
- A proven track record of rehearsing quickly, taking direction,
and making adjustments in character in a way that contributes to the positive
work environment of a production.
- A consistent commitment to
professionalism in the rehearsal process, as well as the ability to use that
professionalism to improve the quality of the performance.
Actors who meet these criteria should indicate interest
in performing in the radio series by filling out the electronic form
below. Roles will be cast based on need;
for example, if the show requires a part to be played by a young actor, then a
young actor will be contacted.
Each play will likely be a mix between veteran actors and
those new to this type of production; in an effort to be inclusive, actors who
indicate interest will be cast according to their availability, and not being
cast in one production means that actors will likely be cast in one of the
following ones.
And now, the shows themselves. Limelight’s inaugural radio drama series will
be:
The Maltese Falcon, which performs Saturday, January 21st @ 7 PM
Casablanca, which performs Saturday, February 18th @ 7 PM
My Darling
Clementine, which performs Saturday, March 24th @ 7 PM
His Girl Friday, which performs Saturday, April 21st @ 7 PM
If you are interested in performing in any of these
productions, please fill out the form below.
You will be added to a mailing list, from which you will receive updates
on where and when to pick up your scripts (delivered in advance), any sound
effects the production staff may be seeking, and rehearsal/performance
information.
Anyone seeking more information should contact Brian
Brems, Limelight Director of Development and overseer of the Radio Division,
