On Friday, January 26, the six submissions to the Short Play Festival were performed in a staged reading. Limelight Staff Members and veteran performers brought these unique stories to life. The pieces included:
Writer’s Block by Ryan Sendef
Dungeon Masters and Depression by Grace Noelken Anderson
The Monster Mash by Mark Melton
Almost Home by McKenna Kreiling
Trivial HOT PURSUIT by Stewie Simons
Sweet Dreams by Lucie Kupres
Audience members voted to award the People’s Choice prize to Stewie Simons for his madcap comedy Trivial HOT PURSUIT, in which a motley crew of bank robbers end up in the Cash Cab as their getaway vehicle.
Adjudicators Michael Leali and Andrew Chilton critiqued each piece. Based on their feedback, the Best of Show prize went to Lucie Kupres for her dramatic play, Sweet Dreams. The story follows a young girl who suffers from nightmares and how she, and her family, faces the impact of these dreams.
Thank you to all writers who submitted plays, and to everyone who came out to support their original works!
